Monitoring Tools on Windows 7
There is a lot of 3rd party program/software to monitor the performance/hardware utilization on our notebook/computer. But there is a simple method on how to monitor our computer performance.
Windows 7 or other OS version usually bundles with their own monitoring tools. But compare to 3rd party program, this monitoring tools need extra setting to be done by us before we can proceed to monitoring step.
Here is the simple way to monitor your computer performance:
TASK MANAGER
Step 1: Right Click on the taskbar – Select Start Task Manager
Step 2: Click on Performance Tab
From this screen, you can view the graphs of CPU Usage and Memory Utilization.
If you have detected a rare activity such as the CPU Usage become too high even though you are not running any heavy program, you can view in more details by selecting the Resource Monitor Icon at the bottom of this screen.
Step 3: Click Resource Monitor to view in more details
From there, we can analyses if any unknown process is occurring on our computer. We can determine which application is belong to by referring to the Description tab.
From this screen, we can monitor our computer activity on CPU, Memory, Disk and Network usage.
PERFORMANCE MONITOR
Step 1: Right Click on Computer – Click Manage
Step 2: On the Computer Management – Select System Tools – Select Performance – Select Monitoring Tools – Select Performance Monitor
Step 3: Click Add Button
Step 4: Add the required counter for you to monitor, from example, select the Processor – Click Add>> -Click OK
Step 5: Finally, You can monitor your processor utilization in more details
On Performance Monitor, You also can monitor your computer process by creating scheduler report.
Performance Monitor usually done by system engineer to analyses the process occurs in computer system in real-time. They also use these utilities when conducting a new migration project such as server visualization project which required a report regarding to server usage status.
But we as a normal computer user also can use this for analyze our computer status by monitoring the process/activity runs on our computer to prevent from the virus attack or unwanted person to access to our computer system.
